CEB Dip Dental Hygiene.
Claire Barrington obtained her diploma in 1993 as a Dental hygienist from Kings College Dental Hospital London where she was awarded the Tutor’s prize.
“After a two week work experience course at a dental practice, I knew I wanted to become a hygienist so I joined Wilson House as a dental surgery assistant (DSA) in 1986. In 1989 I gained my national certificate as a DSA”.
She returned to the Wilson House practice as a part time hygienist for 5 years, going on to work at a specialist practice where she worked alongside an implantologist and periodontist (gum specialist). This enabled her to gain first hand experience & knowledge and provide supportive periodontal therapy to patients undergoing specialist & complex treatment plans.
“Throughout my 20 years experience as a dental hygienist I have been passionate about achieving results with an empathetic approach & show particular sensitivity to the nervous patient.
My emphasis has always been on the prevention of dental disease & therefore concentrate my practice on helping my patients achieve high standards of oral health. For me this is far more important than anything else I can do for my patients during their appointment time”
Two and a half years ago I rejoined WHDP where their ethos is all about prevention (just like mine). I particularly like working here as I get plenty of training & support from the dentists who understand the importance of focusing our time on giving patients the tools to take control of their own oral health. We all work well together as a team & it feels like we’re all part of one big happy family.
I am a member of The British Society of Dental Hygiene & Therapy (BSDHT) & committed to life long learning and attend numerous courses each year”.
Claire is married with two daughters. In her spare time she likes to keep fit by going to the gym, cycling & swimming.
