Many of our Milton Keynes patients who require orthodontic care for crooked or gapped teeth or a misaligned bite express reluctance towards the idea of getting traditional braces.
At Wilson House, we offer an effective yet discreet solution to these problems. Invisalign® is an excellent way to straighten your teeth without the need for unsightly traditional metal braces which become a semi-permanent fixture in the mouth for a prolonged period. Invisalign® uses a series of removable clear aligners worn for two weeks at a time to gently pull the teeth into a more aesthetically pleasing position.
The Invisalign® process:
Assessment — Your dentist will first discuss the process with you and assess whether you are a suitable candidate for Invisalign®. They will then take a 3D scan of your teeth, gums, and jaw and use this information to work out your prescription. Your dentist will send your treatment plan away to a specialist laboratory where a technician will create your aligners.
Treatment — You will wear each aligner for 20-22 hours a day for two weeks, taking them out only to eat, brush and floss. After two weeks, you will swap to the next aligner in the series to continue your treatment. You will attend check-ups every four to six weeks to monitor your progress.
Retention — Once your treatment is complete, your dentist will fit a retainer to allow your periodontal ligament time to reshape, preventing your teeth from relapsing into their original, misaligned position. Both fixed and removable retainers are available to suit all patients.
